So Much More
Every once in a while lately, I get this brief glimpse of the possibility of a deep, complete freedom from the need for anything to be any certain way. It's very brief.
Most of my energy is spent "at the surface," trying to get the waves of the ocean to behave the way I'd like them to.
Certain waves are okay with me. Others are unacceptable, or just plain terrifying. And others are what I want more than anything in the world.
The waves can be anything—relational things, financial, health, politics, climate, anything tangible or circumstantial. This is where I live and work. It's what I view as "the world."
But it's becoming increasingly clear to me, and I think to many others (maybe you), that there is a lot more to "the world" than what we can see, touch, and measure.
We can sense there is more—because this "more-ness" is what we're made of, too.
If circumstances are the waves at the surface of the ocean, then what is the ocean?
There is so much more than what I have spent most of my energy on for most of my life. There's more to this world, and there's so much more to us.
